Call for Papers for the Annual Meeting of the
Canadian Association for the Advancement of Netherlandic Studies (CAANS) /
Association canadienne pour l’avancement des études néerlandaises (ACAEN)

26-27 May 2012
CAANS/ACAEN’s 2012 annual meeting will be held in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada on 26-27 May 2012, to coincide with the Congress of the Social Sciences and Humanities. The two organizing universities, Wilfrid Laurier University and the University of Waterloo have chosen as their theme “Crossroads: Scholarship for an uncertain world/À la croisée des chemins : le savoir face à un monde incertain”.
We invite proposals for 20-minute papers addressing the conference theme or any other topic related to Netherlandic studies, including but not limited to: language, literature, culture, history, art and art history, or politics. Presentations will be 20 minutes plus 10 minutes for questions and discussion and may be delivered in English, French or Dutch.
Please send your title and a short abstract (150-300 words exclusive of any references) BEFORE FEBRUARY 1, 2012 (postmark or email date stamp) to:

Email submissions are preferred. Please send your abstract as an email attachment, if possible in Word or as pdf. On a separate page or in the body of the email, please provide the following information:
- Your name and title
- Your affiliation (if applicable)
- Your full address
- Your telephone/fax number
- Your email address
- The title of your paper
- Details of any additional A/V or other equipment needs (all presenters will have a computer, laptop connection, data projector, screen, basic sound system and internet access available to them)
The conference program will be posted on the CAANS/ACAEN website at www.caans-acaen.ca in early April 2012 and in the April 2012 Newsletter.
